Public Service Beat Old Boys FEILDING- AND COLYTON DRAW Conditions were far from pleasant on Saturday, when the second scries of games in the second round of the Feeding competitions were concluded. On the previous Saturday rain interrupted play, tho position then being Old Boys live wickets for 101 runs and the innings closed l'or 131. Public Service replied with 104, thus securing a twopoint. In the other game Feilding carried its score to 178 for eight wickets and declared, leaving Colytou a little c., er two hours to bat. At stumps Oolyton still had three wickets intact and had 141 on the board, tho result being a drawn game. Old Boys and Public Service.

Cinnell aud Finlay, the not-out batsmen, resumed Old Boys’ innings and carried the total to 113, when the former was clean bowled by Sinclair. Rosoinau failed to open his account and it was left to Finlay and Smith to carry the total to 122, when the former failed to get on to one from Barltrop and skieu him to Sinclair at cover. The innings closed shortly after, leaving Public Service about threo hours to secure the runs needed for a win. The innings did not open too promisingly, seven wiekets being down for 70 runs, Stephens, one of the opening batsmen, being the only one to keep an end going. However, Forgusson temporarily stopped the rot, but after scoring 15 was clean bowled by Brock. A splendid ninth wicket stand by Stephens and Monteitb, a new arrival from Southern Hawke’s Bay, put the issue beyond doubt, the pair taking tho total to IG2. Tho innings closed shortly after for 164. A feature of was the splendid lighting knock of Stephens. Opening the innings, he played all bowlers confidently and was unbeaten at tho close with G 1 to his credit. Another performance worthy of note was tho splendid bowling by Barltrop, his figures being eight wickets for 33 off 21 overs. Details:—

Buist and Donaldson continued the innings on Saturday, but after scoring six tho latter was clean bowled. Carter joined Buist and carried the total to 147, when Carter was run out. Colytou obviously was playing for u draw and in this they succeeded. Opening with Reid and A. Waldin, tho former went with the total at 12. Waldin followed shortly after, aud with Telford out with 23 on tho board, a partnership between Howell and Whitehead robbed Feilding of any chance of victory. Howell played the rock, but Whitehead scored very freely, although he occasionaly lifted the ball, it fell clear of the fieldsmen. Finally, Howell was caught at poiat with only twenty minutes left for play. Three more wickets fell quickly, but &»t 6.30 Colyton had scored 141 for seven wickets. Whitehead was unbeaten with '!*j to his credit, played a nice innings, content to play the good balls but severely punished anything loose. Tho result of the game was a draw.
