Farewell Social

REV. FATHER BROOKES HONOURED. A very representative gathering of the Catholic people front Feilding, Rongotea, Kimbolton and Apiti together with, visitors from Palmerston North filled to capacity the supperroom of the Feilding Drill Hall on Friday evening to bid farewell and make a presentation to the Rev. Father Brookes who is leaving Feilding to talco charge of the Ohakuno parish.

Masters McGrath and Hughes, Mrs Simson and Miss Shortall spoke to the good qualities of the departing Priest while Messrs Goodwin (Rongotea) Robert Shortall and J. L. MaeEcynoid.s voiced in well spoken speeches their regrets at the departure of Father Brookes.

In replying and thanking the people for their generosity, the Rev. Father Brookes said that ho would take away with him very happy memories of h:s sojourn in Feilding. The Rev. Father Broughton who is taking over the Feilding Parish was not forgotten and a very warm welcome was extended to him.

• During the evening musical and elocutionary items wero contributed by Messrs Guardinger, T. N. Shortall, Misses Coombes (Wellington) and F. Redwood and 'these were much appreciated.

Visiting clergy were the Rev Fathers Cahill, Vincent and O'Sullivan
