SIR OTTO NIEMEYER DODGES REPORTERS. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Thursday, 7.40 p.m. NEW YORK, Jau. 20. Sir Otto Nieineyer arrived aboard the Berengaria accompanied by -~rs Niemeycr and Air Reid. Reporters required two hours to find them due to the fact that they remained in seclusion in the ship while officials denied their presence aboard. Sir Otto said they came merely to discuss problems with holders of defaulted German und South American bonds. He expressed surprise that Air Runciman was also here. "I am not here as an official of tile Bank of England nor to represent the Government in any way. I do not intend to see Mr Runciuiau nor President Hoosevelt nor do I expect even to visit Washington.” lie said the economic recovery was progressing in England and believed the war scare in Euiope was lessening, lie did not believe an alarming amount of British gold was entering the United States. He expects to remain at least a fortnight.
