Tihe statement that the diamond jubilee of Palmerston North would probably bo celebrated during the week preceding the Royal Show in November of this year was made by the Alayor (Mr. A. E. Alansford) yesterday. Air. Alansford added that the actual date of the jubilee fell in July, but the eelebra tions would be deferred for several months owing to the uncertainty of the winter weather. A public meeting would be called shortly to make suitable ariangements for preliminary organisation. The Alayor recalled that the golden jubilee of Palmerston North was held in February of 1027 to coincide with the visit of the Duke and Duchess of York (now their Alajestics the King and Queen.)
