Jones, of Waipawa and formerly of Apiti, is to'conduct the service in the Methodist Church on Sunday next. ltev, A. it’. Stewart and Mrs Stewart have returned to the Manse after an enjoyable holiday. Mr and Mrs Stewart will be leaving the Apiti district within the next few weeks and their departure will be deeply regretted, by their church members as well as by many other local residents. Mr and Mrs Ford and Miss Eileen Ford, of Wanganui, are at present the guests of Miss 13. M. Leslie, accompanied by her friend, Miss K. Purnell and her brother, Colonel W. Leslie, of England, intends leaving Apiti on Thursday for a tour of the north,- when Wanganui. New Plylanga,* Gisborne and Hawke's Bay will be j visited before Colonel Eeslie returns to Ih-ie* annual meeting of the Apiti Athletic .Spurts Chub was held in the Oddfellows’ hall on Monday evening and attended by a large gathering of enthusiastic sportsmen. Mr W. McKenzie, junr., presided. The secretary, Mr B. Kearney, presented the report, which reviewed the activities of the club for the past year. The sports meeting- and the dance that followed were- very successful functions, both socially and financially. The club finances' are in a sound position. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring officials, especially to the president and secretary. An honorarium was voted to the secretary, and he expressed the wish that the honorarium be shared by the assistant-secretary. Many of the old officials were re-elected to office.
