THREE SEARCH PARTIES OUT Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. Fears are entertained for the safety of a Wellington youth, T. Matthews, aged 17, who is believed to be lost on Mount Egmont. Matthews, who climbed to Synie hut on Fanthain’s peak, yesterday afternoon in company with a 12-year-old child, Dick Valentine, continued to the summit in order to sleep in the crater and take photographs at sunrise, leaving the younger boy at the hut When Matthews had not returned today Valentine descended to the Dawson Falls Hotel and arrangements were immediately made for searen parties to leave the Dawson Falls, North Egmont and Stratford mountain nouses with the intention of meeting on too aummlt.
