A very handsome silver rose bowl Las been presented by Mr. H. A. Evans, of Palmerston North, to the A. and P. Society for competition at the show to be held on February 12. The trophy is in the hands of the secretary, Mr. J. A. Walsh and is for the best performer in the ladies' horse jumping event. A lire brigade* inspection was carried cut by the Government inspector of l*iro Brigades (Mr. Girling Butcher), who visited Pahiatua last Monday. The local brigadesmeu were called out and put through squad motor drill and various pumping tests. A lecture was delivered by Mr. Butcher at the lire station on various subjects pertaining to fire-fighting.
