Hoaxer Pays With His Life

VICTIM GOES MAD

For making a joke at the expense of a Senegalese soldier regarding the dangers of vaccination, a French gunner named Barbier had his head cut off by a sabre and a trooper, Barreau, lost his right eye and ear.

Barber and Barreau, both white soldiers shared a barrack-room with the Senegalese and another white man. The Senegalese expressed delight that he would soon return to his own regiment, where he would meet comrades of his own blood. The others then warned him that he firsJs.of all have to be vaccinated, which was very dangerous, and that he should not be too cocksure that he would see his friends at all. Soon afterwards they all went to bed. At about 2.30 in the morning the Senegalese suddenly went mad and attacked the other two.
