COAL-OIL CONTRACT
EXPERIMENTS IN BRITAIN, EXCELLENT FCJEP OBTAINED LONDON, Feb. 16. Describing the conversion of coal into petroleum products, the Government Scientific Industrial Research Committee says that experiments have indubitably shown a high pressure of hydrogenation, and a largo proportion of coal is convertible into liquid fuels. Bue whether it can bo established on a commercial scale remains to bo seen. Motor-spirit derived by low temperature carbonisation showed Itself to be an excellent fuel, with a high benzol equivalent.
