ANNUAL PICNIC f (From Our Own Correspondent ) The Kohinui school picnic was hold j on Friday, February 17th, in grounds 1 kindly lent by Mr. J. D. Piper The committee and Miss Boddell had arrangements well in hand and as the ' weather was ideal, a very pleasant day 7 was spent. At the conclusion of the , sports events Mr. Gardiner thanked "l Mr. and Mrs Piper for the use of the ! grounds, Miss Boddell for her untiring t work, and all other helpers who assist- " j ed in making the day so successful 1 Prizes were then distributed to the r children with gifts for all the wee tots, i In the evening an enjoyable dance ; was held in the school-room, Mrs F. I Nagel presided at the • piano in hex , usual capable stylo, while extras were i contributed by Mrs. Manning. Miss f. G. ripor, and Mr. Kearney. Mr. J. Pi; v.( v.uuie an efficient M.C. ! The sports events resulted as fol lows— Senior boys’ race: Ken Wall 1, Ham ncr Taylor and Vernon Manning 2. Junior girls: May Hopkins 1, Alice (lose 2. ; Boys’ consolation: Roy Gardiner.. 1, Walter. Married men: Mr. W. Fulton 1, Mr. Gardiner 2. Single men: Mr, K. Fulton 1, Mr, S. Bone 2., I Jumping (senior boys): Vernon Manning and Ken Wall. Jumping (junior boys);: Albert Manning and Alan Fulton. Skipping (girls): Mary Gardinor Flossie Rose and Florrio Cornforth. A Farewell Social. Last Friday evening a complimentary social and dance was tendered to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Broughton who are leaving fox Bulls, Mr. J. Piper controlled the dancing as MC., and music was supplied by local talent. During an • interval Mr. Seymour Bone (on behalf of Kohinui residents), spoke of the high regard in which Ms and Mrs. Broughton are held, and presented to Mrs. Broughton (nee Miss Jane Gregory) a handsome quilt, and to Mr. Broughton a clock, Mr. Broughton suitably replied and dancing was continued till half-past one.
