PRINCE OF WALES’ NAME
The Prince of Wales is called “David” by his relatives, and never “Eddie.” There will be some interest tho Dowager Dady Radnor’s claim, in her newly published book of reminiscences, that it was she who suggested this name. ( Dady Radnor says she believes that Britons are descended from the ten lost tribes, and tho Royal Family from King David of tho Psalms. She sent a message to the Queen —then Duchess of York —asking if a son were born, to her he should bo called David.. The Duchess liked tho name but ‘‘wondered what reason she could give” for calling her son by it. Rady Radnor then suggested it could bo included among the other names of the four patron saints of these islands. That, she writes; “is how the Prince of Wales came by tho name of David.”
