LONDON TO CAPETOWN

A speed dash from London to Capetown has been organised by the Rand Daily Mail, with the intention of stimulating interest in a proposal for a trunk highway from Capo to Cairo. B. Bouwef, holder of the Capetown to Johannesburg record, will drive the car, a six-cylinder American sedan with standard equipment. The car will leave Capetown in April or May and make a survey trip to Cairo without forcing the pace. The car will be shipped to Italy and driven across Europe to London. With the information gained on the outward trip, an attempt on a record-breaking dash will then be made. This is expected to start in August.
