FAITH IN “SANTA”

D.S. TEST OF CHILDISH BELIEF. Psychiatric tests, in which Ameri cans have intense faith, have at last been applied to Santa Claus—or, rather, to the attitude of children toward him. The National Kindergarten .’at Evanston announces results showing that all five-year-olds cherish a positive conviction of the actual existence of Santa Claus. The six-year-olds voted 1C to 1 in favour, but as the subject was presented to children of riper years the number of Santa’s devotees dwindled to vanishing point. '* The conclusion of those who conducted the test is that any child of ten who believes unreservedly. in the Santa Claus of red checks and long whiskers should bo token to see a psychiatrist. The results showed that the children of the poor hold much more definite ideas about Santa than those of the rich.
