THE LYCEUM
JANET GAVNOK IN “3 GIRLS WANTED.” “2 Girls Wanted,” Fox Films version of the John Golden stage hit, with Janet Gaynor in the stellar role, commences at The Lyceum to-night. This is the first production in which Miss Gaynor is cast and billed as a star, an honor she earned with her sensational performance in the part of Diane in ‘‘7th Heaven”. This picture is based on the play written by Gladys Unger and tolls the story of two sisters who are struggling to mak-e a living in Now York. Sarah, played by Mario Mosquini, who also appeared in “7th Heaven", is incapacitated from work by a broken arm, and Marianna, played by Miss Gaynor is unable to get a position. At last in desperation, Marianna dons boy’s clothes and tries to get a boy’s job. Then conics a fight with a boy, her escape and an embarrassing’ situation when she hits a young man, Dexter Wright with an over-ripe tomato intended for the boy. The succeeding episodes arc splendidly and logically motivated, and the romance of the two develops through a series of situation that swing twixt honour and tears. “2 Girls Wanted." does credit to all who had any hand in the making of it, including the cast of supporting players with Grenn Tryon in male lead and Alfred Green who directed the picture. It is fine entertainment that the whole family will enjoy.
