FRANCE BEATEN BY VICTORIA IN TEST

At tennis in the singles, Borotra (Prance) defeated Patterson 6—2, 9—7. Borotra's agility counter-balanced Patterson's position play. He returned Patterson’s service with case. At tho net Borotra was unbeatable. In the mixed doubles Hawkes and Miss Boyd beat Brugnon (France) and Miss Harper 2—6, 6—2, 6 —3. Hawkes played splendidly and was deadly at the net and in position play. Ho and Miss Boyd made a slfbug pair. In tho doubles Patterson . and McInnes (Victoria) beat Borotra and Boussus (Franco) B—6, S—6, 6—4. It was a magnificent game. Patterson was at the top of his form. Victoria won the Test against Prance by one game. This is the Frenchmen’s first defeat in Australia in Test matches.
