FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB

MR. J. H. PERRETT RESIGNS, On the advice of his medical advisors Mr J. H. Perrett has resigned from the committee of the Fcildlng Jockey Club, after fourteen years 1 active service. His resignation was received at a meeting of the committee on "Wednesday evening and was accepted with very much regret, all present expressing very high opinions of the very valuable work Mr. Perrett had done for the Club during his stewardship. Mr. Perrett has been a member of the Club for a great number of years and was elected to the committee some fourteen years ago. His extensive knowledge of racing matters has always’been of. very great help to the Club and his decision to discontinue an active part is to be regretted. It is satisfactory to be able to record that Mr. Perrett is now up and about again and is making a good "recovery. The appointment of a successor has been held in abeyance. Course Improvements. The committee of the Club have had before them the plans of the proposed course improvements together with a suggested lay-out of the buildings prepared by the secretary. Mr. Guy Goodbeherc. So far nothing definite has been decided upon as to the buildings but it has been suggested that a new stewards’ stand, containing accommodation for members, should be built as well as a new public stand. It is thought that the position of the grandstand will require no alteration and in all other respects the" building is quite sound and in every way suitable. It is probable that the new stewards’ and members’ stand will bo built back from its present location and if a certain suggestion is adopted, will be connected with the grandstand by an overhead platform containing seating accommodation. The idea of this is to provide extra accommodation for stewards and members without taking up ground space. Several other alterations concerning the situation of existing appointments are also under consideration. The Club is deliberating very carefully over the whole miestion with the object of making the best possible arrangements for the convenience ol patrons and members. .
