HERD TESTING
MANAWATU ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE., ; The monthly meeting of, the Monawatu Herd Testing Association was held in Palmerston North yesterday. There were present:—Messrs. W. H. Gimblctt (chairman), W.. S. Foil, FJ. Leggc, F. Robin, R. G. Dalzicll, R. W. Evans, F. Farmer, W. R. Hopcroft and the secretary, Mr. J. }FergUson. It was decided to postpone field days that had been previously arranged, in view of the dry weather which had dried up pastures so much that the outings were not yef worth while. The matter of an inspection of Massey College is also to bo inquired -into. Mr Evans reported that he hud been approached by several dairy farmers south of Levin with'enquiries as to how soon groups would be started in that locality.—lt was decided to take early steps- to canvaas the district. ‘ '"■* ’ A financial statement presented to the secretary showed a Small credit balance. As a large sum in fees has been outstanding for sonle time, it was decided to give defaulters notice that unless their fees are in by March 20 legal proceedings will be taken. Speaking in regard to the method of collecting fees, Mr Dalziell stated that he could not understand how any dairy factory could object to collecting on behalf of the association, in view of the benefit that herd testing was to them. Members agreed, and it was decided to discuss the matter further at the annual meeting.
