EXCELLENT PRICES AT WANGANUI SALE
Wool Even Advances On Auckland Figures WHOLE CATALOGUES ARE CLEARED (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, Last Night. The third Wanganui wool sale tonight resulted in a maintenance of Auckland prices which in some cases were exceeded. Bidding from the commencement was animated and exceptionally keen for any parcels of good stylo wool. The firm tone held right to the last of the catalogue and if a heavier offering had. been submitted buying power was on the benches to lift any reasonable weight. Germany was well in the market as a great portion of the catalogue contained wools eminently suitable for her trade. Bradford made its presence felt and lifted a heavy weight. For a few lots of super wools American buyers competed very keenly and secured the bulk. France was interested in Lambs’ and best quality pieces and paid high rates. As. usual at the February sale a good quantity of inferior and medium pieces, bellies and crutchings was submitted, and brought prices on a par with late sales, although at times a slight easing was noticeable. Many parcels were heavily seeded and generally rough, but there were very few [passings.
Murray, Roberts’ Report (“Times” Special.) WANGANUI, Last Night. At the third sale of the season held to-night wo offered 810 bales to a large attendance of buyers, experiencing an exceptionally keen sale. Prices remained very firm with a hardening tendency. There was competition from all sections of tho trade, including representatives from Bradford, tho Continent, and other consuming centres. The offering of wool was hardly equal to tho January sale, standard lots showing seed and earth, especially in lambs’ wool. Very little wool was passed in, nearly the whole catalogue being sold at the auction. Brands sold in our catalogue as follows: — Waipu, A A 19d, A 17d, lambs 213 d; PSO. A 193 d, B 173 d, down 24Jd, lambs 19Jd; Waiau, A 17d, B 153 d, lambs B ISJd, Bis 13d; V/88/M, A 173 d, B 164 d, lambs 21Jd; Eow hgts A 20d, A 17d, B 163 d; Balmuir crossbred 16d; Oil ewes 16Jd; Tcmaru ewes 174 d; KK/E ewes 16d; Ernscliffo ewes eotty 16d; WK/PN down lambs 20M; U 9/ Pakira hgts 174 d, wethers 16d; Selkirk, binned wools, down 243 d, down cross 213 d, hgts 193 d, down lambs 21fd, lambs A 223 d. Dalgety and Co.’s Report (“Times” Special.) WANGANUI, Last Night. Baigcty and Co. report as follows; — At the wool sale held here to-night buying was very keen from tho commencement, and exceptionally high prices were paid for wool in good parcels. Prom the trend of the sales at Wellington and Auckland it was expected that prices at to-night’s sale would show no depreciation. Our catalogue of 1900 bale's was composed chiefly of ordinary soft making wools with a few lines of good to super. The Lismore clip opened up attractively and the top lines made wonderfully good rates. It is evident that wool is wanted and as the offerings were of a small compass buyers were out to secure as much as possible. In North Island towns only two decent-sized catalogues arc yet to bo submitted, namely at Wellington and Auckland, other centres being depleted of supplies. The whole bench to-night were keenly on tho alert for wool, and the total catalogue was cleared at the recent high prices ruling. ,
