FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
TJi.e, regular fortnightly meeting of Loy.aJ Manawatu Lodge,, M.U.1.0.0.F., was. hpld last night in the Oddfellows' Hall, Cuba street, bT.G. Bro. C. F. Frarajco presiding over a good attendance of members. Apologies were received .on behalf of several members, who were unavoidably absent, and one new member was initiated and one joined by clearance. A vote of condolence was. passed with the relatives of the late Bros. Blake and Hewetson, the, members standing in silence as a mark of respect. Sister Scroggs junior, was, appointed as Vice Grand and Bro. Northey as Elective Secretary for the remainder of the ensuing term. Bro. H. Sharmah was appointed a delegate to represent Loyal Manawatu Lodge at the meeting of the Friendly Societies’ Dispensary Board. Invitations to, be present at the installation of, officers of Loyal Manchester and Loyal Apiti Lodges were accepted, arrangements for the transport of members being left In the hands of D.M.G. Bro. D. T. Dilks. Bros. Clark, Christianson and S. J. Watson reported on matters in connection with the annual meeting of the District Management Committee and the above delegates were accorded a vote of thanks. A hearty vote of congratulation was passed to Bro. D. T. Dilks on his being raised to the office of District Grand Master, Bro. Dilks suitably responding. After discussion it was resolved that a Degree Lecture and a meeting of tho Entertainment Committee be held next Wednesday (Fobruay 29) at 8 p-m., when several of the Degrees will be confer* red on those wishing to take them. At the close of last night’s meeting, members joined in harmony, and a tasty supper was provided by the ladies of the Lodge.
