MAGISTRATE’S COURT
ONE MONTH GAOIi. At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., Patrick : Bray was charged with being an idle ' and disorderly person In that he had [no visible means of support. Senior Sergeant O’Grftdy stated 1 that accused had been hanging around Palmerston North for the past few weeks, sleeping out in the open. Accused, who had a previous record was convicted and sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. Petty Theft. ■William George Kennedy, aged 23 years, pleaded guilty to the, charge of the theft of £1 from a farmer named Mitchell, at Walkanae, on February Sth. The Senior Sergeant stated that accused had been employed by the farmer and both had been camping together. Accused had been paid by cheque and had stolen the money from his employer’s pockets and decamped. As there was no previous record against tie accused, ho was admitted to probat in for r. te;m of t’vj years, and was ordered to make restitution of the amount stolen.
