DELIGHTFUL CONCERT AT METHODIST S.S.
Last evening saw the hall of the Cuba Street Methodist Sunday School packed with a most appreciative audience, to hear one of the most enjoyable and artistically meritorious concerts which has been- staged in, Palmerston North for some time. The organisers of the concert arc to be congratulated in assembling such a strong array of local talent —• i a mere recital of the names of the Various performers would, in itself, be sufficient testimony to the high standard of entertainment which was attained. It was a concert, which j would have filled the Opera House and whose standard was indeed more fitted for that larger stage. While it I may be invidious to particularise among a programme of such uniform I merit, space must to made for special mention of two most delightful items two perfectly rendered duets by those well known Palmerston North artists. Miss Naomi Whallcy and Mr Wm. Watters and the splendid solo work of Miss Arini Ashworth whose talent is so well known to Palmerston North audiences. Space does not permit of a detailed review of the whole programme .suffice to say that it is some time since such a delightfully varied and excellently rendered programme has been hoard in Palmerston North, As the Rev. H. T. Peat remarked in a short speech at the conclusion of the concert, it will be some time before the concert ■null be forgotten. The following was the programme: Misses Muirhcad, McKenzie and P. Howloy, instrumental trio; Mr H. G-Leng-Ward, vocal solo; Miss Ulu Han- ! cock,, A.T.C.L., Elocutionary item; jMiss A, Ashworth, vocal solo; Mr Alf Kingston (of Fcilding), humorous sketch; Mr R. P. Grace, magic: Miss Naomi Whalley and Mr W. Watters L.A.B t vocal duct; Mr Farmer, musical gaiety: Misses M. • Muirhead, G. McKenzie, and F. Howloy, instrumental trio; Mr W. Blair Tenncnt, vocal • solo: Mr Alf Kingston, humorous sketch; “God Save the King. ” j Rev. H .T.
