CANADA HAS DONE SO TOR LAST 30 YEARS. [By Electric Cable-Copynght.l [Aust. and N.Z Cable Association.! (Received Wednesday, 5.5 p.m.) OTTAWA. Feb. 21. In a brief reference to butter imports from New Zealand, Dr. Ruddiek, Dominion Dairy Commissioner, told the British Columbia Dairymen *s Convention at Manaimo that they should not cause any alarm as Canada had imported from New Zealand for 30 years. Canada also imported butter and cheese from many countries such as the Fiji Islands and Syria, which were not usually regarded as sources of importation. The following resolution was passed unanimously: “ Whereas the dairy industry of Canada has suffered in consequence of the Australian Treaty, , wo respectfully request of the Dominion Government that the Order-in-Council applying Schedule Two of the Australian Treaty to New Zealand bo rescinded at once. ‘'■ That a dumping clause bo immediately applied on all butter sent from Australia to Canada on consignment as well as direct sale, so long as the Patterson bonus plan is in effect. “ That the Australian Trade Agreement bo terminated as provided in the Australian Trade Agreement Act, 1923.”
