The ordinary mouthly meeting of the E above was held yesterday. s Appointments Committee, — The fol- s lowing business was transacted m com* \ mittee:— Crofion: Kesolved to recoma £ merd Mr Delauey. — Wanganui : Miss £ Bteadman's resignation received with regret, applications f or situation to be < invited. Appointment of Miss Scott as pupil teacher, to be considered when at« j tendance warranted it - Kimbolton lload ' . Mr Stewart wrote respecting appoint- j vent of Mr Templar, agreed that he be ppointed subject to approval of the Inspector,— Marton : Mr S. L. Brown's vppointment was confirmed, and Mr irowu was given permission to con^ cinue his Saturday class until the end )f the year,— Wanganu i: Applications or position of assistant master received >pplications to be forwarded with a • ecommendation m favor of one of the board's teachers. — Wakino Road : In* <pector recommended Miss Diamond as : mpil teacher, — Appointed as a fourth •ilass pupil teacher.— Bcacon'field; Mr 'oventry was recommended m. place of tfr Delaney, Election.— The voting papers resulted is follows :— Mr Fry 31, M*r Monrad 8, i»d Mr Tbyune 6. Mr Fry was d«» cUred elected. Scholarships.— The Secretary of the VVelliugton College wrote, stating that cbe primary scholarships weie open to joys and girls of 12 years and upwards, nd were tenable for two years, free iducation being given at tie Wellington College. The examinations were to a^c place m December, and full particuara would shortly be given. It was suggested by Mr Hanson that the local candidates should be examined here, nd the <rork forwarded under seal to Wellington. T£e Secretary was instructed . to;twrite . suggtstiug this. Air Bridge also suggested that circulars be forwarded to the schools giving particulars of the open scholai ships at the -WLangMHii Collegiate School when the par rtcaiirir^r&^x^-^iu^ Western Bai,gitikei,- : =MT~T*eacocX wrote stating that the committee objected to pay anything towards increasing the Balary of the teacher at Western Kangitikei. They considered that they were entitled to haye free education, is they paid largely to the Property Tax, — Keceived. Sandon. — Cupboard, table, desks, chair, &3., were applied for by the dandon commit lee. — ■ Application granted, . . Valuation Returns. — Aramoho and Wanganui Committees refused to fill m the returns,— The secretary stated that a Wanganui gentleman had offered to do the work for the Board free. — A motion was passed giving Mr Brown permission to obtain this r assistance. Truant Inspector — Mr Sanson moved th-it the committees be informed that the Boaid will pay them at the rates agreed tc — Mr Baker did not see the v ility of this, the rules worked well m town, but not m the country. — Mr Bate said that m the present season the attendance was bound to fall off. — Mr Ross seconded the motion — Mr Taplin was m favor of the teachers being al» lowed to act m such a matter as this — Canied. This concluded the business, and the Board adjourned at 12.40.
