Bljwg Jib, Helene, Hastings, Ironhand, Lord Wilton, Lavington, Malua, Martini* Henry, Norfolk, Privateer, Ringwood, Bapidj Signor, The Agent, Vernet, Vergy, and Yately. A capital start was effected. Rapid at once went to the front and lei past the stai,d. followed by Yately, Vernet, Battalion, Lavington, Blink Bonny, Cobtoun,, Hastings, Signer, and Claplj^p. Then came Lord Wilton, Vergy, and !Bend '- Or. J»Bt c>ar of Capii, came MaitinU Henry, Despot, ; and M alua, The Agent bringing up the rear. Opposite the steward's stand Signor full. Yately joined Rapid at the turn, 3hd the pair racefl round the turn and up the hill, with Helene, Vergy. and- Battalion at their heels and just clear of Claptrap were Martini, D' spot, and The Agent falling further, to the : rear. Along the hack of the course Yately. was going with great vigour and assumed the lead, Rapid resigning the second place m favor of Helene, and Battalion, and Martini had by this time fallen further m the rear. Passing the sod, wall, Rapid I ' made a second effort and joined Yatsly and Helene the pace beins terrifict Attthe turn Frying Pan, and Coulstoun, made resolute effort to get up but failed, and Lord Wilton and Blink Bonny assumed a forward position. Turning into the straight Yately was done with, and Blink Bonny ran through and took the lead. Kapid made another desperate effort to get up, but retired at the distance, and Lord Wilton, Hastings, and Vergy challenged Blink Botufy, jjho, however, held the lead, and; C aY m an easy winner by two lenarfcbt. Fold Wilton nest, alength m front of Vergy Malua fourth, Claptrap, Hiiiiings, Helene. Yately, Fryingpan, Norfolk, Cobcouu, Despot, Capri; and Martini next, The Agtnt b#ingjait. Time— 2min 42£ sec. The fqi'owing was the hetting at thepost : —Vergy, 3to 1 ; Conls'totm. 6 to 1; Mar-fcini-Henry, 10 to 1 ; Helene and Hastings,, 12 to 1 ; Blink Bonny, 33 to 1.
