It is desired to set forth in a concise form information respecting the business which this office undertakes ;-^- Tbe Public Trustee is an officer spe-r daily appointed by the Government. 1. To administer the wil Ik of all persons who by appointing the Public Trustee as their executor secure the guarantee of the Htate for the due fu'filuii nt of their wishes and avoid the risk cpusequ.eut 00 the appointment of private persons as executors, who not unfrequently, though t arnestly desirous of acting for the benefit of parties interested, fail to. carry out legally the objects for which they were appointed, Had consequently involve themselves and those whose interests they are striving to protect in costly and harassing litigation. 3. To take out administration; of- all estates of which no disposition has. beon nt:ide by will, whenever relatives do. not wißh to i,ucu.rc the responsibility of administration, or cannot from, aay «au?e obtain the necessary ppwers to act. In such casts it is the duty of the Public Trustee to discharge all legal debts so far the assets extend, and divide the. residue amongst the nex,t of kics.. 4.
