OUR DAILY SUPPLEMENT.
The success attending our enterprise m providing our readers with a daily paper — " free, g r a is, and for nothing." — as the Hibernian gentkman put it, hag been far heyond our expectation, and since Saturday oar subscribers' list has been increased to an amazing extent m Pa'merston alone. On Saturday nigbt our Feilding agent", Mr. Metard, made a special trip to consult as to the best arrangements for supplying that town ; and he kindly consented to deliver at hi* sbop all our papers. To our subscribers who have hitherto been getting their papers by post this will be a decided, advantage, as it will save the cost of po^age. lv a few weeks there will be a change m the running of the trains and as the Wanganni train will arrive at noon, onr Mibscribers m th »t to.wnshi|> *ill be able to see tbe very latest news by midday. We do not intend to canvass for subscribers m either F-eilding or Foxton, as we do not wish to p.u;ich upon the preserves of our con tern porcine*, but 1 those who wish to be supplied can har* copies left at our agents— Mes-ri. Metard and Palmer. On five days m th" week, unfortnuately the train will not arrive at Foxton before ttn at night, but as ihere is to be an afternoon train on Saturdays, on tho.se days copies of the " Dailt Supplement," can be had at six m the evening. We may also mrntion that we are making ap a Karere parcel cnnsiinpd to Mr. George Richardson. wbicK will be thrown off at his pjace, »nd any of our present or intending subscribers who would wish copies sent to his c*»re, have merely to send word to this office. Any of our new patrons who maj be left short of tbe •' weekly supplement" will kind'y bear with us, and remember they are m a measure to. blame. We order our supplements by the hundred, and it will take some weeks to giyi 1 intimation as to the large increase m numbers, ?nd make provision for it. We need not s*y our liberality is only carried out at the expenditure of some hundreds of pounds a year, and it is therefore not too much that we shou'd expect some appreciative return. We are prepared to bear the whole expense and we but ask that old scores be wiped off, and each subscriber commence th,e new area with clean books. While we arc determined to carry out our ptrt of the compact, we wity expect our supporters to be really worthy of the name, and perform theirs. There is an old L»tin proverb — " Bis dat, qm cito dat," which rendered into the vernacnlar, means "He who gives quickly, gives twice," and the proverb it particularly applicable m the prtwnt Gftfe, Ai we Imyc before iteted,
none will be supplied unloss those who clear off their standing accounts— and this has reference equally to him who owes a shilling as a £— so that should nny find themselves not supplied, they will know the reason.
