TO THE EDITOR. . ' <e IE —Will you allow me to. draw yppr attention to what might have been a Serious accident, of which I waa a spectator on. Friday last. As Mr.Moore Aas driving a lady out of Palmerston m a spring cart, on arriving at the timber yatd.iust across the railroad, the mare he was driving slowly, shied at a dray, and there being no' sort of protection drew the trap into the deep d^ain opposite the timber tracks ; and but for Mr Moore's presence of mind— who headed' the e tfnfepj across— a yery seriou| : accident would; have beeu the result, As it was, tne lady was immersed to' the head m the" tht hqr|e lyinf itruggUni oa tl»
opposite bank. Some men close 07 kindly went to the rerone, and fortunately beyond an uncomfortable wettingand a few small articles damaged by the water and fall, no harm was done ; but surely it ts high time that m a rising place like Palraerston such evils were remedied— l am &c. i NUNQOAM DOEMIO.
