In such cases it is tbe duty of the Public Trustee to discharge all legal debts so far the assets extend, and divide the residue amongst the next of kin. 4. To take charge of, and grant Te3se of all lands lying waste and unoccupied of which the owner is unknown, or who has been absent from the Colony for ten years having left no known agent. State guarantee is secured for the safe custody of all monies placed in the office. The cost of sdnunietering estates is very small. Information may he obtained from all agents. R. C.
