The libel season so far f ram .being over, would appear to be about now m full swing, the latest .victim to pointers* ink being ,?MrV Albert Fiaher, the. proprietor of the^-Wai*' mate Tribune^ who 'lias been summoned' upon two charges of criminal 'libeli • The 1 corpus delicti — -as w/e say m the classics — is said to be contained m two anonymous letters reflecting upon the character of a gentleman bearing the name of Green; Libels would appear to flourish m the towb" of Waitnate m general, ancl m the coliimnß of the Tribune m particular, as ifcs former proprietor was mulcted m the ramof £100, while the writer of the libellous production was rewarded with fchr.ee months' rations and lodgings m Timaru Gaol. With the experience of his predecessor m Ms "mind's eye, I imagine the gentle " Fisher " has received a " b'rta " which is not at all to his fancy, and that the victim, upon this occasion is at the. wrong end of the rod. ; •;; ..• : ; . . .
