IirTBSEBTIINJ TO THB LADIBB. — The manager of the .Ready Money Store, intimates m our advertising columns that he has received his first shipment of this season's goods. This no doubt include a choice selecting of the sweetly pretty drew materials which are now all the rage at home, with whole flocks of ducks of bonnet?, As a further ni'ducejnent to purchase it is announced that all thase,- — not only the ducks &c, — will be re-tailed at Wellington wholesale prices, Shaup Practice. — Complaints have reached us of a piece of rather sharp prac- | tice, which might have proved very disav 1 trous to the victim, considering it was the i 3rd of the month, that occurred yesterday. One of a firm of saw-millers, m an extensive way of business, having occasion to go to Wanganui, got into the trail) at a platform station, and at the next ticket station presented a cheque drawn by himself *n paymen? of the fujrfcher fara. This was refused by the Station-master, on the ground that he did not know the drawer, and there not being time to get it cashed m the township he was obliged to let the train go or, and to return home to pursue his journey by the evening train. What makes the matter worse is the fact that the firm of which the presenter and drawer of the cheque fs a member, are very gopd customera to; the railway $ and still worse, a cheque just cashed was lying on the Station-masters table. Tirs may be m strict ooufottmtty the rules and regulations, but m the present case it boiw very harshly on the victim 62 their severity. - L:■ ;
