Keen was read, applying for a culvert for a drain on his property, as owing to the action', taken by the Board, his land was liable to be flooded m wet weatherl ' -Mr, Macarthttb stated that the Board had only undone what Mr. Keen'B neighbor had done m blocking up the natural watercourse that ran through their respective properties. The Board had only caused the dam to be opened. Jt was simply another application for draining private property. Mr. Ctjmmings did not see how they could do for Mr. Keen what they had refused to do for Mr. Roe. • It was resolved — "That the Board is unable torecpgnise the claim made by Mr. Keen. ' TBAjpFA? OBOSSING MAKINO BOAD. Letter read from Messrs. J. B. Boots and Co.. requesting the Board's permission to make a; tramway crossing over the Makino road opposite their mill. It was resolved — " That Mr. Boots be informed that the County Council is the proper body to r apply to, the road referred to m his petition being a County road." PBBKIHGf BOAD LINE. Letter read from Mr. o.' IT. Wordsworth, applying that the road line turning off from the. 6th. mile-post on the Palmerston-G-prge road. towards the Manawatu river might be cleared, as owing to this not being done the settlers had to go and come through private property— that of Mr. Gutnmings. Mr, Comings stated that the country around him was'becoming thickly and owing to the road not having been opened up, his neighbors had to pass through his property. Mr. Macabthto remarked that the resolution passed by the .County Council adopting the Makino road was very vague, but the intention ,was to take m part of Manchester street as far as the square.
