DEATH OP MR. J. HANSON.

It is with feelings of the prof oundest regret that we have to record the death of Mr. J. Hanson, storekeeper, of Terrace End, which took place nt his residence yesterday at half past two. The deceased gentleman had beon for Some time Buffering from a rupture, and his medical advisew determined to perform an operation upon him, which, took placo last Tuesday night. Although, tho patient appeared to obtain relief, he gradually sank, and finally succumbed as stated, yesterday afternoon. Mr. Hanson was amongst the very first batch of Scandinavian immigrants who settled m Palmerston, but since then has been m the employ of Mr. Lwldell m Foxton, and Chichester aud Co., at their mills at Bunnytborpe. The deceased was a single man, and having no relations m the colony, during his illness his last hours were smoothed by the kind ministrations of Messrs. •Jenssen, Lindgreen and other of his compj-tnots. As his aihnenfc did not confine him to bed, and he was able to attend to his business, it was but a very few days since be was about town, and consequently the news of his death created quite tf shock m the district, where he. was most deservedly respected. His funeral will leave his residence at Terrace End, at three o'clock to-morrow.
