A CORRECTION.
TO THE EDITOB. Sib, — In a local of your Wednesday's issue, headed " The Eifr'cts of the Flood," you sny -that my boiling-down establishment has, been ruinously devastiited — that on Sunday my dwelling was entirely surrounded by water— and you estimate my loss at about £500. I do not know who your informant was, but I fear that Lie has been sadly hoaxing you, as my boiling-down establishment is working as usual. I had seTcral visitors from Palmerston when the fl->od was at its highest, on Sunday, who did not come by water ; and I cannot claim more than about a twentieth of the amount of public sympathy with which you accredit me. By inserting this letter you will oblige yours truly . „ Pices E. Warburton. [Perhnps the pseudo-enrenstic tone of the above will brtir a different complexion, when we say thnfc our informant heard from Mr. PieVWarburton's own lips that there were ten feet of water m his boiling down estub* lishment. Moreover the same gentleman was informed by Mr. Pion Warburton that the damage d(.n« was £500. The estimate, therefore, it his, n"t ours. As Mr. Wurbu "ton's appenrs so tetchy over the matte:*, it would hnve been wiser had be exhibited a little discretion m " drawing the long bow." We had no desire to consider him so unveracious as he seems so anxious to prove hiwself,— Ea:M. T.]
