THE TWENTY BRACE OF BABBITS.
[to thb bditob of the maitawatu times.] 819— I wish to contradict what I am giv6n to believe might, be construed into an established fact, viz., the presence of rabbits amongst us. While carrying two home the other day, it .appears somebody took it into their head to infer t had shot them m this * district, which is. not the case, as ther were brought here by the Wairarapa coacli. I wish to give this contradiction, as probably it might be injurious to the district, and especially as* some people seem determined, some reasons of their own, I imagine, to "the existence of. this, pestilence m — I ami, &c.j| i^Hf^- Edwin Chablss.
