A CORRECTION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sin— In your issue of the 15th. instant I sea m the horse-stealing case reported therein that the part referring tp me is entirely incorrect, and they were" never told the same at the ferry. . The case stands thus : At two a.m. on the 11th instant I put a horseman, over the ferry. Some hour? afterwards I* heard a noise at the gate and I went to see what it was. A man on horseback was trying to get through. He told me he had waited four hours for daylight to" see the. ford to get over the ferry. I asked him ivhy he did not ring the. bill or coeey. He said he did not, know their was a bell, and that he did npt wantfco disturb me. at all. Tho above I told the constable on the same day, at Stoney Creek. Such untruthful statements are. likely to do mo great harm.. Since there has been a bell at this ferry I defy any person to say truthfully that they have been detained unnecessarily here. — I am, &c., ? G. We did say that the runaway had waited four hours for Boyd to put" him across, but as that is not, 'literally correct according to the above statement, we make the explanation with pleasure.— Ed. M.
