Wellington, Tuesday, 8 p.m. The inquest on Cohen's fire resulted m a verdict of no evidence as to origin. The Government have received a despatch from the Secretary for the Colonies, acknowledging the Queen's receipt of Auckland's telegram of condolence on Princess Alice's death. Mr. Jackson, tho Chief Surveyor, has been dismissed the puplic service, and directed to hand over everything lo Mr. J. A Marchant. The certificates of too master and officers of the Hyderabad, have been returned as the Court held that everything possible had been done to save the ship.
