MEETING OF PBESBY TERIANS.

A meeting of the member*, of the Presbyterian Church, Palmerston, was held on, Thursday evening. The. Rev.. David: Bruce opened the meeting with a prayer, after which he explained, that the object of .the meeting was fo* the purpose of re-organis-ing the Presbyterian: congregation. A new committee,, consisting of, Messrs. Brupe,- Dundas, Ferguson^ King,, Mason, Stewart, Beale, and Manson, for general management, was duly elected and, M> Mason waa appointed tecretarev A considerable discussion then ensued! a* to whether the Chairman should be elected from the committee j and it was finally decided that the matter should, be held over till some future date,. A sub-committee*, consisting of Messrs. Bruce and, Ferguson was. appointed to, canvass the district to, ascertain what amount of stipend could be raised ; after, which the , question of pew rents was discussed, and.it ' waa decided that no charge be made at present. The idea oi a Sunday School was mooted by the Rev. Mr Brace, but after some discussion it was considered- advisable not to. take action, ia the matter at present,, but to wait until! affairs m connection with the Church , became, more settledMessrs. Manson and Mason were commissioned to make arrangements with Mrs Wakefield for- the accommodation every Sunday of the visiting clergyman. In concluding the meeting^ the R»v. Mr Bruce said he should lake that oppor- ; tunity of thanking those who had worked for the cause, and kept the- services going, and would especially mention Mr George 1 Bnyje. 1 In reply, Mr Ferguson stated that the visit of the Chairman was most opportune, inasmuch, as. hod; he- not arrived, some of : the remaining few- would have discontinued to attend.
