We ore pleased to be able to state that Mr Rothbbam has given instructions to the Station Masters along the line, that m future the correct mileage is to be charged for all goods and passengers to and from roadside platforms and private sidings. The following are the various platforms and sidings m the County of Manawatu, m regard to which the regulation will come into force s —Sidings — Halcombe Saw Mill, Swainsons, Makino-road, Aorangi, Taonui, Trondheim, Terrace End, and Hokowhitu. Platforms — Awopuni, Long Brown, Tiakatahuna, and Motuite. We, however, fail to see that the platform at Mr Chbistopfeb Simpson's, has been included, and as that gentlemen was led to- believe that he would partake m the' benefits of the concession now granted, we suppose the matter has .been one of omission, rather than decision. We have had ocoasion to so often and so strongly condemn Mr Rothebam's mode of managing the line, that we feel pleased he has givon us' an opportunity of bestowing a word of praise. Our strictures upon him have been ' severe, but he may yet discover that we were only actuated by a desire to see justice done 'to this district, and learn that none will be more «ady to award him credit when deserved, than ourselves. The proposed work will, no doubt, entail considerably more labor upon the officials along the line ; and possibly for a time somewhat reduce the weekly revenue, and consequently m studying the convenience of the public, m the face of these facts, Mr Rothebam is deserving of the greater credit.
