We are pleased to see that the coming meeting atJFoxton is— a^ it certainly should be — viewed as a County matter, and that a number of residents from Sandon, Palmerston, Feilding, and Jlalcombe , intend being present on the occasion. There can be no doubt, however, that the very awkward hours at which the train reaches and leaves Foxton, will have much to do m making the attendance less than otherwise would have been the case. As it is, it would be necessary to lose a whole day, and portion of another, independently of the cost of travelling. We would propose thai; arrangements be effected, with the General Manager for a speoiai train from Foxton to Halcombe, leaving the former place on arrival of the Wana-^ nui nignt train. The matter can be: easily arranged, by guarantee,, and we feel quite certain that many would put m an appearance if enabled to; return the same night, that otherwise Would not do so; In a^quesL tion involving so much importance to the community, it is -most necessary that representatives of every industry and portion of ; the County should be present, and unless the step we suggest be taken, we fear such will not be the result. We make the convener and promoters a present of the idea.
