About eighteen months since Mr Halcombe, Agent for the.E. and C. Aid Corporation made an offer of the use of the Immigration Depot for the holding temporarily of an E. M. Court at Feilding. Since that time the sittings of the Court have been held 'm. that building, but we understand that within the past few ; days M^ Ward has received a letter from Mr Halpombe, m which it is intimated that 'after next month the use of the building will no longer be available. In consequence, therefore, an application we believe, is to be made to ; the Government for the erection of a permanent court, and certainly the growth of the township fully warrants such a request. "When it is considered that the premises were given but temporarily m the first instance, and that during the very long interval which' has elapsed since then, the Corporation has given the use of the building gratuitously, it must be conceded that it is about high time some permanent provision should be made. As the letter sets forth that the use of the Depot cannot be obtained for. a court beyond next month, it behoves yfchat' immediate steps beiii^iten' m the. matter, otherwise the Magistrate may be driven -V to' .the very objectionable course of holding his court m an hotel.
