BEPLY TO EDWABD MAESH'S LETTER.
TO THB BDITOB. Slßi,— Your would'be imitator's letter, signed " Edward Marsh," which appeared m your last issue, would noli be wortlureplying to, were it not that your readers 'are likely to take his "quotation" as correct, instead of referring to the |'New Zealand Times "of the 2nd inst, Mir Marsh says : "This writer states that Hhe poor man was taken to the hospital, where there was neither bed nor anything m the place, and that, consequently, the poor fellow must be m a wretched' condition.' " Had I said this it would indeed hare been X twaddle," but what I rfirf say was, " The hospital baa received its first patient, a young man who is suffering from erysipelas m both legs, brought on by exposure, There are, however, no fittings, or even beds, m the building as yet, and I fear that the acqommodation. and comforts must be of the most primitive kind." This is strictly correct, and its meaning must be plain to all except those of tlie*yery meanest mental capacity. Apparently, Mr Edward Marsh had two objects m getting someone to write the letter to' which I refer for him. With regard to his first object, I would remind him that he Las already received one severe lesson m newspaper letter-writing, and .beg him to stick to stqrekeeping and carpentering,- of which; he way know something, and to abandon all hopes of becoming a literary genius. As to his second object, I would ask him "if it would not be more honest to pay for advertising himself and his benevolence, if he wishes to make the public acquainted with it, instead of doing so gratis m your " correspondence " oolumns ? — I a.m, "N.Z.TIMBS 11 CoBBBBPOHDENT SQB PAIMEBSTON NORCR. ?almerston, May 11th, 1878,
