The minutes of last meeting were read, but before being confirmed Mr McEwen took exception' to a portion relating to the boundaries of the proposed wards. Letter from' the Begistrar-Gerieral, asking fora return of all property m the district, From Douglas and Go., stating that they were willing to bear half the cost of about thirty chains on Milner'sline. —It was proposed by Mr Me E wen;,; and seconded by Mr Hammond, that the Engineer he instructed to prepare specifications, and call for tenders for the work, such tenders to be m at the next meeting. V > Prom Messrs.! Smith and Garter^ requesting the Board to bear one-third of the cost of a drain ou the Mbtoa road. —It was resolved thatthe Boarddpes not see its way to dp the work, unless the correspondents assist m the matterFro ny the County Council, asking the Board to prepare a copy of the. valuation roll.— -The: Secretary stated that the required document had been furnished. From Messrs. The best bridle track is a; cut line a short distance from! the road, and "runs over perfectly flat-ground. Bull's mill to 'Peilding brought under the notice^ of the Board, requires about 13 chains pf dray track through: flax, and three culverts, and repairs to -to approach into. Oroua River." Without these outlets it is impossible get the water out of the drains by the side of the road. The portion of road complained of is a gully thirty feet deep, ana sixtysix feet wide, with precipitous banks ; and the cheapest meansof avoiding it is to cut a temporary track round, of I about ten chains, until there are sufficient funds to form the road, and build! permanent bridges. — I have the honor,.
