USEFUL INFORMATION.
HEGTSTRATIOX. Births. — The birth of every child must be registered within 62 days, including clay of birth ; after that time a child may bo registered upon making a solemn declaration of the particulars and paying a fee of ss. Marriages. — Marriages are to be solemnised with open doors, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., m the presence of two or more witnesses. -Persons desirous of being married must m the first instance give notice to the Registrar, atid pay a fee of 2s 6d ; he will then give them a certificate (the fee for which is 20s) that Ihey have complied with, the reqnireroents of the Act. If they prefer being married by the Registrar, instead of a clergyman or minister, his fee is 20s. Deaths. — The Registrar of the district must bo informed of the event within 31 days. He will then issue a certificate o£ the same without fee. Any person bnrying without a certificate isliable to a fine of £10. Registration of Electors. — -Persons .claiming to be placed upon th<e Electoral Roll must send m. their claims to the Registration Officer- of the district, between Ist January and 31st of March each year. N 5- claims can be received by the Registration Officer after he 31st March;. '\ Registration- of Title Deeds— ln all cases where parties are purchasing, or agreeing for the purchasing or leasing of land," it is important they should first search .at the Deeds Office for mort<rage'.v*br other Encumbrances which ma"y affect the property ; for each search a fee of one shilling is charged. Registration of Dogs.— All dogs six months old or upwards, are required to be registered^ during the month, of January m each/year: Registration fee, ss. The owner has to provide a collar, with the owner's name thereon, to be worn by the dog- so registered. The penalty fqr, non-registration is not less than 20s, nor more tlian £5, and is recoverable m a summary mauiier. Any dog or dogs not having attached to a collar the badge for the current year .shall be deemed ■unregistered, 'and may be destroyed if founcl at large. If any person shall falsely make or counterfeit any badge resembling the badge provided, he shall forfeit for every such offence a sum not exceeding ten ponnds ijor less than five, pouuds. ■"VACCIIfATIOW. It is made compulsory upon every parent '-to take hi? 'child, within six months of its birth, to the Medical Officer, appointed by the Government for the •■ 'district, or. to some qualified Medical Practitioner, to have the. child vaccinated, and. on the eighth, (day following."to tajce the, child back for inspection. For. breat-h of this law a fine notexceeding 4Os may be recovered before any Bench of Magistrates. Fosfc Cards are now issued at the Post Office, and sold m plackets of six cards for 6d. English postage sta,uips ; may be pb-. tamed by persons desirous o£ sending a stamp or stamped envelope to their relatives or friends m the United Kingdom, m order to relieve then^ oi the cost of the postage when send|?g.. replies. The fare to Wangamii is 52s 6d. The coaches leave Wanganui for Wellington ou "Mondays and Thursdays, at 2 p.m. A coach leaves Foxton for Wellington every Tuesday and Friday morning. A coach loaves Palmers ton for Wanganui every Tuesday and Friday ingMISCELLANEOUS. A guarantee for payment of a, cjebt must be m writing. It is said that green gorse or whin tHI bruised- mala s very good winter fodder for a horse. Kative Game. — It is enacted that no native game shall bo hunted, shot, taken, or killed, except during the months of April, May, June, and July.
