BEGISTIJATXON. Births.— The birth of every child nui>.t be registered within 62 days, inclu<ling day of birth ; after tbat time a child may Tjo registered upon mailing a holeiiiii declaration of the particulars and paying a fee of ss. For breach of this law a fine not exceeding 40s may be recovered before any Bench of Magistrates. Post Cards are now issued at the Post Office, and sold m packets of six cords for 6d. The stamped side qf the card is for the address only. On tlie reverse side, any communication, whether of the nature of a letter or otherwise, may be printed or written,. English postage stamps may be obtained by persons desirous of sending a stamp or staoiped envelope to their relatives or friends m the United Kingdom, m order to relieve them of the cost of the postage when sending replies. These stamps cannot be purchased m quantities, nor are they permitted to be used for the purpose of making remittances. Registration. — By the prepayment of a fee of sixpence m addition to the full postage, any letter, newspaper, book, or other packet, may be registered to any place m the Colony, ' Australia, the United Kingdom, and certain Foreign countries. Unclaimed Letters. —On the first day of each month a list is exhibited at each Post Office m the Colony of the addresses of all letters received from places beyond the Colony that have remained unclaimed, for three, lponths at such Post Office.
