INQUEST.
An inquest was held on Wednesday last, by Dr. Rocksitow, Coroner, on. the body of Qcorge Andiwv Nash* a b<\y of nine years | of age, Mflio, met \\is death under most p^inf id circum3tan,ces 4 o.n. tha previous d.ay. i Norma,!!, Nash x the father of the, boy, dap.os.cd,: I came home from, n^y- wjcvrk a,b.ou,t six o'clock on . horse- back- < I met | t\\o ; of my boys.at th,e slip, ba,rs leading into. I n\y pad,4o,ck. Deceased asked n\e if he 1 should tether, tfye horse, I handed, him o,vaif tli,e ropp. wh\ch. wjas rotund tl\a horaefs. n,eok, and I saw the boy leading the horse u,nderHeath th,a clothes line, v?luch was close to I the house. I then went into the. house, got a, towel and soap, to have, a w^sh outside I was absent a i'esy rap ments ; when I. came o.u,t I missed the. boy and the. horse, Hy attention w,as. directed to. a, broken fence. I can as fast ajs t could up the. road, and found Mr John. .Johnson standing oyer- my ; boy. He told m e thp.t he had sent for the ; D,octor. The.boy died a fev^mompnts after. I John Johnson, a carpenter, deposed;:.! i came from the Avenue towards the town, ; on Tuesday evening about six o'clopk,. when : I saw a hprse m . A^r- Nash.'a. paddock. : galloping do^n W p^ddopk towards the | fence. I could, sea that the. horse had a rope round his neck, and. dragged something 'along at tb<e. end. of tlie. rope. Thahprse jumped the fence, arid the. fence. was broken, down by the deceased, who, was, en.tanglpd at the end of tha ropp. ''The. hprse then gajlpped across the Avenue Road, oyer logs a.njd, sfcunip^ and^ w.a^ brought up against a fence.
