REGISTRATION. Brths. — The birth of ev^ry^-child mv t be registered within 62 days, inclu'i n% day of birth ; after that time a child may bo registered upon making a sole.nn declaration of the particulars and paying a fee of ss. Marriages. — Marriages are to be solemnised with open doors, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., m the presence of -two or more witnesses. Persons desirous of being married must m the first instance give notice to the Registrar, and pay a fee of 2s 6d ; he will then give them a certificate "(the fee ; for. which is 2()s) that they hare complied with the requirements of the Act. If they prefer being married by the Registrar, instead of a clergyman or minister, his fee is 20s. . . '_ Deaths. — The Registrar of the district must be informed of the event within 31 days. He will then issue a certificate of the same without fee. Any person burying without a certificate is liable to a fine of £10:; Registration of Electors. Tr-Persons claiming to be placed upon the Electoral Roll must send m their claims to the Registration Officer of the district, between Ist January an( i 31st of March m each year. No i-laims can be received by the. Registration Officer after the 31st March. Registration 6f Title Deeds. — In all cases where parties are purchasing, or agreeing for the purchasing or leasing of land, it is important they should first search at the Deeds Office for mortgages, or other incumbrances which may affect the property ; for each search a fee of one shilling is chargeil. Registration of Dogs— All dogs three months old or upwards, are required to be registered 4 u^ n ,S * ne! month of January m each year. Registration ice, ss. The owner has to provide a collar, with the owner's name thereon* to be worn by the dog- so registered. The penalty for non-registration is not Jet s than 20s, nor more than £5, and is i ecoverable m a summary iimuuer. Any dog or dogs not ' having attached to a tottar the badge for the current year shall be deemed unregistered, and may be destroyed if found at large. If any person shall falsely make or counterfeit any badge, resembling the badge proTided, he shall forfeit for every such offence a sum not exceeding ten pounds nor less than five.pouuds. . VACCINATION. It is made compulsory upon every parent to take his child, within six months of its . birth, to the Medical Officer appointed by the Government for the district, or to some qualified MedicaL Practitioner, to have the child vaccinated,, and on the eighth day;following to take the child back again for i?ispection. For breach of this law a fine not exceeding 40s may be recovered before any Bench of Magistrates. The word ''parent" means father, mother, or other person having the care, nurture, or custody of the child, postal. Tost Cards are now issued at the Post Office, and sold m packets of six cards for 6d. The stamped side of the card is for the address only. On the reverse side, any communication, whether of the nature of a letter or otherwise, may be printed or written. English postage stamps may be obtained by persons desirous of sending a stamp or stamped envelope to their relatives or friends m the United Kingdom, m order to relieve them of the cost of the postage when sending replies. These stamps cannot be purchased m quantities^nor are they per-' mitted to be used for the purpose of making remittances. Registration.— -By the prepayment of a fee of sixpence m addition to the full postage, any letter, newspaper, book, or other" packet, may be registered to any place m the Colony,- Australia, the United Kingdom, "Mua certain Foreign •countries. r ' ■" ' ~ v ' Unclaimed Letters. —On the first day of each month a list is exhibited at each Post Office m the Colony of the addresses of all letters received from places beyond the' Colony that have remained unclaimed for iihree months at such Post Office. COACH GUIDE. Coaches leave the booking office, Ma-nners-street, Wellington, for Waikanae, Otaki, Foxton, Paluoerston, Awahuri, Bulls, Marton, Turakina, and Wanganui, on Mondays aud Thursdays, at 6 o'clock m the niorning. The fare to Wangamii is 52s 6d. v The coaches leave Wanganui for, Wellington on Mondays and Thursdays, at 2 p.m. A coach leaves Foxton for- Wellington - every Tuesday and Friday moroing. A coach leave's Palmerston for.Wangauui every Tuesday and Friday morning. . . . .'-.-. MISCELLANEOUS. A guarantee for payment of a debt must be m. writing. . It is said.fchat green gorse or whin well bruised makes very good winter fodder for a horse. Native- Game.— lt is enacted that no native game shall be hunted, shot, taken, or killed, except during the months of April, May, June, and July. The following are deemed "Native Game ":— Wild Duck of any Species, Bitiern, Pied Stilt Plover, Wild, Geese, Dotterell, Tui, Naliv/ Pigeon. Teal, Bla.k Stilt Plover, Curlew, Quail.
