Owing to a cross dispu t> belwven the two interested parties the case took considerable time to settle. Witnesses f.>r and against were produced; their evidence on the whole wa* somewhat rnnflii-ting, and revealed a strange system of bookkeeping amongst some of our business men. Defendant's set-off amounted to £9 3s 4d, which his Worship reduced to £1 12s 2d, at the same time reducing plaintiff's account to £4 18s 4d. Judgment was given for this amount — with costs, 19s, and witnesses' expenses, 30s.
