TO THR EDITOR. Sir, — I was nin -li gratified some months n^o w.h?n a number of the storekeepers of Piiliiiarsfou agreed to cfose their premises at 7 -p.m., with a view to shorten the hoars of business for themselves and their employes. I notice, however, with regret, that one of. those pledged to support the movement, is not acting m accordance with his promise. The person referred to may possibly deeni this a small matter, but that it is a breach of faith there can be no doubt, and he would do "well to remember that it is the man who shrinks from an action, which, however small, is dishonourable m its tendency, who ■wins for himself the confidence and respect of his fellows. The strict observance of small points of honour tends to the formation of a character calculated to adorn society m general ; while the influence exerted by its possessor m his own immediate circle, is of the . most elevating nature. The procedure which La's called forth these remarks may be due to thoughtlessness on the part of the person alluded to ; if so, this reminder will of course be sufficient to induce him to close at the appointed hour m future. — lam,.&c, ' Obseeyeb.
