The Chairman introduced Mr Francis Loudon as Councillor for the Riding of Awa Hou, to take the seat m the Council vacated by Mr Liddell.' 1( t « Minutes of last meeting Tead. Councillor 4 Qo web' said ne wished to,, -give an explanation ,with regard to the . resolution moved by him at 'the "'last' meeting, relative to Highway Boards merging into, the County, and having a Highway Board m each Biding ; and he wished the Press to take notice of his explanation. He said he did not mean exactly Highway Boards, but rather Consulting Boards m each riding, whichi could consult -with the member m each particular riding. He had taken "great pains to find out the forking, of the shires of Australia, and he had ascertained that they had proved a great success.
