ThaEe'v. Mr, Me Williams, of Ofcaki, will hold service m the English Church, Palmerston, next Sabbath evening.. The New "Zealand Shipping Company hare "Purchased the b.b. Jane Douglass, and purpose placing her m the Wellingfcon-lTox-ton trade. ■ She is of light draught, and therefore,well adapted to compass the difficulties of a bar harbour. It is intended that she shall run regular trips between Wellington and JToxton, except twice a- month at spring tides, when she will proceed to Rangitikei, calling at Foxfcon on her way back to Wellington. Our commercial and travelling community will be glad to learn of this accession to our trade conveniences. Some discomfort has been felt and complained of through the late decrease of "facilities of steam transit, to and from - Wellington, which it is to be hoped will be henceforth obviated. A meeting to form a new Cricket Club was held at the -Princess Hotel, Terrace End, Pahrierstdn, Kbrth, on Saturday last, the Ist inst., when the following business was transacted : — Resolved, , that the entrance fee be ss, and the subscription be 2s a month, payable m advance. Resolved, that Mr E. Marsh be Treasurer. Resolved, that M- Hoe be Secretary % Resolved, that Mr Charl ss be Captain. Eesolved, Jbhat the meeting nig it be every alternate Wednesday, at 7 p.m., at- Mr Deards' Princess Hotel, Terrace End. Eesolved, that the. framing of the rules be adjourned till next meeting. Mr «Deards lriudly offered the use of his paddocks to the members for their practice. Besolred, that the next meeting night be fixed -for Wednesday, Sept. 12th, 1877.
